How the Ballot Secrecy Issue is being handled in Tarrant County.
The new Tarrant County Election Administrator, Clint Ludwig, is not redacting any ballots, but removing the polling location information from the records. This does eliminate one way to expose the ballots, there are others, but he legally can do this since the laws do not mandate he provide that data. How the Ballot Secrecy Issue is being handled in Dallas County:
Heider is redacting everything from the ballots, meaning that the 2024 Dallas County Presidential General Election, and all down ballot races, cannot be properly audited by either citizens or state officials. Dallas County is worse off for auditing their election records than they were in 2020. Heider does this because the SOS Director of Elections, Christina Adkins, told all EAs to redact ballots once she was caught misleading citizens, officials and reps about the existence of a ballot secrecy issue. https://texas.public.law/statutes/tex._election_code_section_122.001

“New” Pollbooks having issues, Heider says not new just repackaged(?) (Heider won’t return my calls right now... maybe because I cussed out his wife on X before I realized it was her) causing delays, concerns about voter check ins, voting hours extended.

Tabulators reflecting LOW “protected count” or “lifetime” ballot count, indicating that the machines are “new”, explained by Heider that he “replaced a chip” in many machines, and did not purchase new machine. The county must offer an immediate hand recount of this race for either party who loses, free of charge, for this mistake, and to learn if this could have been a bigger issue than it seems.
