Sometimes there isn't an easy answer, sometimes life is cruel.

Many times in the questions surrounding our life and circumstances, the underlying relationships are somehow forgotten. Sometimes there isn't an easy answer, sometimes life is cruel. Maybe what we're looking for isn't so much an answer, but a genuine, caring, embrace.

A society based on consumerism places a high importance on material possessions, subtly guiding people's time and effort toward behavior that builds monetary and generational worth. Rewarding people that create life's identity on land and product. Children, Wives, Husbands become trophies. Homes can become an isolated sanctuary far removed from the shopping isles, gossiping friendships and draining work environments.

When we place a human's worth in these environments and mindsets it is easy to see why divorce rates, substance use, weight gain, sexualization, anxiety, depression, distorted images, personality disorders, loneliness, isolation and violence become a normalized by-product and prevalent part of everyday culture.

The journey of life, being human, freedom and happiness, human rights, and relationships, can be sold to us as something we must search for and prevail. To find truth, meaning, pursue one's true self. Like a weekly paycheck we're told to work on our mind, our health, life and relationships. Go on holidays, set boundaries, minimalism becomes a trendy band-aid solution to the consequences of more. Travel the world, unlock the mysteries of existence, dissect cultures, traditions, take what you want, stir it in a pot and find your own flavor that suits. It's exhausting, it can create selfishness disguised as liberation, nice smiling people that would throw you in the garbage as soon as you do something they don't like.

Relationship breakdowns become normal. People decide who they want to keep close, or who they want to discard in the same way they clean out their trending fashion closet and home D.I.Y upgrades.
