Cyclone Dana lashes eastern India as hundreds of thousands evacuate

Tropical Cyclone Dana hit India’s northern Odisha coast with heavy rain and winds of 110 kph (70 mph), causing authorities to evacuate around 300,000 people and issue high alerts for Odisha and West Bengal.

The storm brought 2-6 inches of rain, with the highest at 160 mm (6.2 inches) in Chandbali.

No casualties or damage were reported initially.

Schools, trains, and flights were canceled in the affected areas. Rescue teams were deployed, and further evacuations are planned, CNN has reported.
