Ye olde Barron River crossing will be making a brief comeback - for a short time only according to the latest from Clean Co (operators of Barron Gorge Power Station) - starting on Friday, October 25, the water level in the Barron River at Kuranda will be lowered for construction work at Kuranda Weir. The water level will remain low for two weeks for foundation work for the permanent concrete wall as part of the Kuranda Weir Recovery Project.Levels will gradually return to normal after the weir gates are closed on Friday 8 November. We appreciate your understanding as we continue this important recovery work.
Reminder: Construction activities are underway at the weir and there is an increased risk that water levels in the Barron River and connected waterways may change without notice. Fast moving water is dangerous and can lead to injury or death. Undertake water activities at your own risk.
One last opportunity to get some more images of the river at its lowest perhaps...
