Politics - a vacuum for religion?

Video discusses how people have gravitated towards a new kind of morality, nominally secular, that has many of the attributes of religion.

The fierce support of: abortion, or euthenasia, sexual liberalism, ethics of care for the world environment, both social and natural -are topics that traditionally would be the domain of a religion.

The cult of self identification seems almost sacrosanct, with children now being "affirmed" as cats in school - highlighting the worst elements of religious activities denial of reality. The belief that one can miraculously transform the x and y chromosomes in a person's body to the opposite gender by simple God-like declaration - let me be the opposite sex, and I was. Is not matched with reality, it is scientifically as impossible as becoming a cat through will power, and self-determination. Not to mention the psychological impact on cats that might find it an offensive infringement on their feline rights, identity and self-worth. :)
