Michigan State Police troopers are taking part in a statewide initiative, “Operation Safe Stop,” this week. The goal is to remind drivers who ignore flashing red lights on stopped buses picking up and dropping off kids to stop. In a survey from May 24, school bus drivers reported more than 1,300 incidents where drivers illegally passed them when their lights were on – putting kids’ lives in danger.
