A California man was arrested after allegedly leading officers on a chase and crashing a semitrailer into a police cruiser in north Columbus on Saturday.

Dashcam footage from the chase shows the semi driving in the middle of the road, driving over a roundabout and hitting multiple cars before the driver is seen getting out and running on foot.

Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were initially sent to the 1600 block of Karl Court around 3:30 a.m. on a report of a semi hitting a building and leaving the scene.

The driver, later identified by police as 42-year-old Gregory Ivory, was also believed to have brandished a handgun, according to police reports.

The affidavit says Ivory had left the area and officers tried to initiate a traffic stop at Karl and East Dublin Granville roads. Ivory reportedly did not stop and continued driving on Karl Road.

At one point in the dashcam video, the semi is seen driving in the middle of the road and going over a roundabout with sparks coming from the bottom.

Video shows the driver stop a short time later in the middle of a residential road and begin backing up toward the police cruiser.

The semi continued straight after the cruiser backed up.

At the intersection of Karl and Schrock roads, the semi is seen turning left directly into a police cruiser, and the officer in the video can be heard calling for a medic.

The officer in the cruiser had an injury to their wrist, according to the affidavit.

At another point, the semi-driver begins backing up on a bridge while multiple police cruisers are behind it. The cruiser at the front drove over the median to avoid the impending crash, and Ivory continued straight ahead.

During the chase, the affidavit says Ivory crashed into multiple other vehicles. The final crash happened at North High Street and North Broadway, where Ivory can be seen running away.

He was later apprehended by police on Clinton Heights Avenue.

Ivory is charged with felonious assault and felonious assault on a police officer. His bond was set at $250,000.
