MEN AMONGST MEN TAKING AN HONORABLE STAND
RESPECT YOUNG MAN.
In an unusual sight this morning outside the Israeli army’s recruitment center in Tel Hashomer, two distinct anti-military demonstrations occurred side by side. First, a small group of left-wing activists held a protest in support of three young conscientious objectors, who will be imprisoned in the coming days for refusing mandatory military service. The three teenagers — Yuval Moav, Itamar Greenberg, and Oryan Mueller — are refusing the draft due to the occupation and the current bombardment of Gaza. Meanwhile, hundreds of ultra-Orthodox Jews protested against the army’s new policy of enlisting Haredim, following a landmark High Court ruling which overturned a decades-old exemption.
