“I led the College Democrats, until they became too far left” #WalkAway Campaign

“I was president of my College Democrats and then vice president for all the College Democrats in my state. I went on to hold a national position with the College Democrats of America, where I was responsible for chartering new chapters of college democrats.

I even worked on the Clinton campaign as a motorcade driver. I organized phone banks, rallies, protests, canvassing for Clinton. I donated to Joe Biden.

I was raised Democrat. I didn’t really stop to consider my own beliefs.

In 2017, I walked away from the Democrat Party.

The progressive Democrats around me made me feel lesser than due to my more moderate leanings. I was alarmed by how left the Democrats had become—as compared to the party of JFK—and by the increasing focus on identity politics over substance. I realized that the modern-day Democrat party was a shrinking tent—not a big tent—and my more moderate beliefs were welcome.

I went from being a high-ranking Democrat to someone who must ‘obviously’ be ‘racist’ and ‘misogynist’ and ‘bigoted.’ For what other reason could I possibly have to entertain conservatism…right?

It wasn’t enough all the work I did for democrats; all that mattered was absolute devotion to the religion of dogmatic leftism.

I just voted for Trump for the first time.”
