A Life of Selfless Service Sacrifice and Civic Engagement
A life of Selfless Service, Sacrifice, and Civic Engagement: Cyril “Rick” Rescorla, COL, USA (Ret) as a Lesson of Triumph During an American Tragedy
In remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the attacks of 911, the National Archives is hosting a panel discussion about Selfless Service and Sacrifice. America witnessed many heroic actions during and after the attacks on September 11th. The story of COL. Rescorla is one of them. Although Rescorla perished in the attacks, he is credited with saving the lives of 2700 fellow employees of Morgan Stanley and inspiring all those around him. A panel will discuss Rescorla’s lifelong courage, service, sense of community and inspirational leadership as a model for our youth on a day in history that we will never forget. A panel discussion moderated by Megan Jones, Senior Director of Education Programs, 911 Memorial and Museum will include Dr. Conrad Crane: Chief of Analysis and Research for the US Army Heritage and Education Center at Carlisle Barracks, PA, Dr. Lissa Young: Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership, at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, and Ms. Jenna Ryall, Director of Civics for All at the New York City Department of Education.
