Hiking at the scenic Klondike Park in Augusta, MO | Hiking Trails

On a beautiful mid-October morning, I took Kinjo to Klondike State Park. In this video I will give you a rundown of what the park is like for a hike, including the scenery.

I love this park, and it's not too far from the winery. It is also right next to Defiance, so you can stop and grab a beer or two - as I did at the Defiance Roadhouse - once you're done with your hike.

No one, human or animal, is supposed to swim in the lake. I did not "allow" Kinjo to swim there, I was letting him get a drink of water while I was filming the view. As I was filming, he stepped too far and fell in. I didn't want to yell at him, as it was an accident and I was filming, so I kept filming and allowed him to get out on his own. He is not a dog that loves to swim so I knew he would get out.

Yes, I did have him off leash very briefly so he could pee. No one was around when I let him take care of business. He was leashed 95% of the time. Sue me. :)

I seriously recommend this park. It's not a long trail but you could easily circle it over and over to walk as long as you'd like. The trail also bumps up against the Katy trail, so there is nothing stopping you from making that detour for a much longer walk.

The views with the bluffs, the lake, and the white sandy beaches make this one of the more beautiful places to walk my dog that I've been to in Missouri.
