THE DIVIDED KINGDOM (931 B.C.)
A little background: When King David’s son, King Solomon died, his son Rehoboam became king and he was an arrogant jerk. The people said they would serve him if he would lighten their load. But he told the people that he would be harsher to them then his father was and that he would discipline them with scorpions (Not literal scorpions but whips with bits of metal in them).
So ten of the tribes decided to depart from the tribes of Judah and Benjamin that stayed and they made Jeroboam their king and they went north to live. (1 Kings 12:1-24)
The Northern Kingdom is called Israel and the Southern Kingdom is called Judah.
