1975 and 1979, Cambodia experienced one of the most horrifying genocides in history? The Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot, aimed to create a classless agrarian society, which meant that anyone with an education or even glasses was seen as a threat. Can you imagine being targeted for wearing spectacles? Over 1.7 million people perished in forced labor camps, starvation, and outright executions. It was so extreme that the country’s urban population was forcibly relocated to the countryside like some twisted game of musical chairs. And the worst part?
