Another Bear Attack Survivor

Randy tells about an archery hunter in Wyoming who, while up against a rock, watching for elk to walk near, was attacked and mauled by a grizzly bear as she walked by with her cubs. A link to the story is below.
While he was fortunate to kill the bear to stop the attack, which was, thankfully not fatal for him, his Glock jammed not once, but twice.
10mm auto is not enough gun, and there is the chance of jamming in extreme situations, where every millisecond counts.
A double action heavy caliber handgun is the better choice.
That is why Randy will never recommend a Glock for self-defense in bear country.
Randy makes suggestions on firearm power, ammo and load weight for grizzly bear self-defense.
Just a sampling of why a 10MM is not the best choice when hunting in grizzly country:
Data from Buffalo Bore ammo:
Heavy 480 Ruger Ammo - 410 gr. Hard Cast LBT-WFN GC (1,200 fps/M.E. 1,311 ft-lbs) -
HEAVY 45 COLT +P OUTDOORSMAN - 325 gr. L.B.T.-L.F.N. (1,325 fps/M.E. 1,267 ft. lbs.)
Heavy .44 Magnum Ammo - 305 gr. L.B.T.-L.F.N. (1,325 fps/M.E. 1,189 ft. lbs.)
HEAVY 10MM OUTDOORSMAN - 220 gr. Hard Cast - FN (1,200 fps/ME 703 ft. lbs.)
