This series contains video recordings relating to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA's) Space Transportation System. The footage documents the missions that brought a complement of experiments and hardware into earth's orbit for 5 to 16 days. The primary activities in outer space shown include deployment, retrieval and/or repair of satellites; and medical, microgravity, astronomy and earth science experiments. Many of the activities and experiments relied heavily on video, either as a real-time visual aid for performing a task, as part of the scientific data from an experiment, or for post-space flight analysis.
