ISF is a mandatory requirement by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for all shipments imported via ocean freight into the United States. It helps CBP assess cargo security prior to arrival. ISF must be filed at least 24 hours before departure for ocean freight, prior to aircraft departure for air freight, and at least 1 hour before reaching the first US port of arrival for truck or rail shipments. Timely and accurate submission of the ISF is crucial to avoid penalties or disruptions to the import process.
