The Dead Names: Griffin Shaun Sivret

The Dead Names series looks at stories of people killed by mindless gender affirmation. This episode looks at her Instagram and Reddit posts, which document the medical horrors her young body was subjected to by doctors attempting the impossible: turning a girl into a boy.

Griffin, formerly Makayla Lynn Sivret, was first affirmed in her transgender identity when she was 13, and placed on testosterone at age 14. She received a mastectomy at 17, a hysterectomy at 20, and phalloplasty at 21. She died this past July, at the age of 24, after years of deteriorating health that followed septic shock following phalloplasty.
