James 5:16 clearly says, "Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed." God assures us that while our relationship with him is personal, it's not private.
Because we're a body, what we do in our personal lives affects our brothers and sisters in Christ. Knit together by the Holy Spirit, how we live affects the rest of the body. How, then, can we speak the truth to one another "in love" and "not lie to one another" if we don't speak honestly about our sins (Ephesians 4:25; Col. 3:2)
