The International Space Station (ISS) is set to retire in 2030, prompting private companies to develop commercial orbital laboratories.

At the 75th International Astronautical Congress in Milan, U.S.-based Vast announced its proposal for Haven-2, a successor to the ISS.

CEO Max Haot stated that their goal is to secure the NASA Commercial LEO Destination contract and demonstrate their capabilities with the upcoming Haven-1, slated for launch in 2025.

Haven-2, designed for modular construction in low-Earth orbit, aims to be operational by 2028 if it wins the contract.

The station will feature advanced life support systems, lab facilities for microgravity research, and a 41-foot-wide cupola window for stunning views of Earth, Space.com has reported.
