UK inflation drops to 1.7% - increasing likelihood of further interest rate cuts

The 1.7% rate published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) measures the average rise in prices of a basket of goods during the 12 months to September 2024. The CPI measure does not include changes in mortgage interest payments or house prices.
