The period from the 4th to the 15th Century is known as the middle ages, or dark ages. And dark it was! Both in the world and in the church. The absolute power of the Roman church absolutely corrupted it's leadership and clergy. But, God continued to protect His invisible church and raised up bright spots to give people a glimpse of what the biblical church was meant to look like.
