This is so that you can contend for the faith when Satan attacks it whenever we face tragedy that come from things such as natural disasters. God has not lost control of the earth and He knows when and how severe every natural disaster will be before they hit. The Bible teaches that God in His sovereignty uses hurricanes and natural disasters for His own purpose and glory! Therefore those who claim that as Christians we have the power to stop hurricanes or other natural disasters are deceivers and are to be avoided as False Teachers!
