FEMA Resumes Normal Operations in North Carolina After Brief Suspension Due to Security Threat
After a brief suspension due to a security threat, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has resumed normal operations in North Carolina to support communities affected by Hurricane Helene ¹. The threat, which was initially reported as an armed militia targeting FEMA workers, turned out to be less serious than feared. A 44-year-old man, William Parsons, was arrested and charged with going armed to the terror of the public.
FEMA Adjusts Operations Amid Threats
As a precautionary measure, FEMA adjusted its operations, stationing disaster assistance teams at fixed locations instead of going door-to-door ¹. However, with the threat mitigated, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell announced that operations would return to normal, ensuring survivors receive the assistance they need.
