What is Shincheonji Church of Jesus?

Shincheonji Church of Jesus, a/k/a the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony, is a very aggressive, high-demand, secretive, Korean apocalyptic pseudo-Christian religion originating in South Korea. It is sometimes called “New Heaven, New Earth.” The movement was started by and is led by the “New John” or “Promised Pastor,” an elderly Korean leader named Lee Man-hee, who is the only one who is able to interpret the Bible correctly. They deny the Trinity, claim that they are the “twelve tribe” and the 144,000 of the Book of Revelation. Shincheonji specifically targets Christians using online and in-person Bible studies under Christian-sounding names to recruit followers.
