Girl Wipes Out And Takes Gramps With Her

Wave simulators seem to be a lot fun in theory, and they probably are in practice too. However, we here at AFV get a lot of clips with them, and it would seem to us that no one is ever totally successful when using one. That is to say, everyone fails eventually— it’s a guarantee! If you’ve boarded on one and gotten till the end without wiping out, let us extend a big, huge, mega sized kudos to you for that. Because let’s be honest: you, sir or madam, are in the overwhelming minority. Everyone wipes out sooner or later, and if it just so happens that YOU haven’t, then it’s only a matter of time.

We enter the scene of this little ditty with a young lady attempting to wave surf on one of these bad boys (the simulators, don’t get any ideas). She has a little help with this kindly older gentleman at her assistance, but will that allow her to avoid a (extreme 60s song voice) wipeout? Spoiler alert: you are currently reading the America’s Funniest Home Videos blog.

She’s a tad wobbly at first, and hops a bit as the man helps her inch out, getting her feet wet both literally and figuratively. At first, it’s so far so good as he leads her towards the center of the roaring artificial rapids. She seems to be getting the hang of it for the splittest of split seconds, but then: things turn south in a jiff. Like the Greek myth of Icarus about the man flying too close to the sun (if you are unfamiliar, try reading a book sometimes), this old timer ventured too far into the sputtering jets. His momentum taking him forward, and the artificial rapids pushing him to his left— that was more than enough to knock him off balance, tilting him forward. At this point, the surfer girl no longer stands a chance. What’s important is they both wiped out together (if that’s the kind of thing that’s important to you).
Most of these wave simulator contraption doohickeys are found on cruise ships, and there’s a company we won’t plug that seems to provide the lion’s share. On their website, to which we won’t link, there are six (6!) different types of wave simulators. Since we here at AFV don’t really have time to click on each model and compare or contrast the differences between them, we encourage you to Google “surf on wave simulator” and see for yourself. Or you could take our word for it that they look pretty cool. Your call.

Do you know what else is fun to Google? Sandwiches. In fact, if you’re tech savvy enough, you can even find out where there are sandwiches NEAR YOU. Is your mind blown yet? Because, at this point, it really should be. Now go out there and get yourself a sangwich!
