Time Again To Play 'Media Headline vs. What's In The Actual Story'
Posted • October 14, 2024: Hey, I get it -- nobody needs another reason to despise the state of the propaganda media -- but like weeds it needs to be constantly rooted out and shamed. Today's example revolves around a story designed to help reinforce the Biden administration's desired narrative that claims of a slow FEMA response in North Carolina are "misinformation." Just for good measure there seem to be efforts to smear non-government people on the ground in the area who are just trying to help. Here's the new excuse for why FEMA are at fixed locations. This first one is from CBS News: FEMA says its disaster assistance teams will be at fixed locations after National Guard troops reportedly encountered armed militia who said they were "hunting FEMA."
NBC's Today Show account got in on that action as well and took a similar approach: Federal emergency workers were forced to pause their hurricane recovery efforts in North Carolina after National Guard troops reportedly discovered trucks of armed militia, who were “out hunting FEMA.” Kathy Park reports. -- I’ll take things that never happened for $200. That would be a great bet to make. Does anybody want to bet on what the actual story was? I read the actual CBS News story and, keeping in mind their headline was "National Guard troops reportedly encountered militia members who said they were 'hunting FEMA," added this after a few paragraphs: The North Carolina National Guard told CBS News in a statement on Monday that it had "no reports of our soldiers or airmen encountering any armed militia, any threats and any type of combatants. We are continuing to serve all those counties in need of our assistance."
The entire story is based off a local sheriff's office receiving a threatening phone call from a man who wasn't affiliated with any group who was later arrested and released on bond. Next thing you know the media made that into "National Guard troops reportedly encountered armed militia who said they were 'hunting FEMA.'" It was "reportedly" because CBS News, NBC News and other outlets that started the bogus report. You truly can't loathe the media enough.
