ORPC’s Modular RivGen device was developed in part with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO). It is designed to generate emission-free electricity from river and tidal currents that can then be used by existing infrastructure like EV charging stations.
Hydrokinetic devices, like the Modular RivGen, convert the energy of tidal, river, and ocean currents into electricity. These devices have the potential to provide millions of Americans with locally sourced, clean, and reliable energy.

Watch this video to get an inside look at the deployment of the Modular RivGen in Millinocket, Maine.
