The DEEP STATE was around 2000 Years Ago and it has not changed. The scene is after Lucius Ileus Sejanus [played by Patrick Stewart], Commander of the Praetorian Guard under Emperor Tiberius, has arrested a Senator who stood in the way of the Deep State plan to undermine Emperor Tiberius, assassinate Tiberius and ultimately seize control of the Roman Empire (or so Sejanus planned... it did not turn out that way for Sejanus in the end)
