Terrifier 3 Box Office Success is the Example Hollywood Should Follow

Terrifier 3 taking the number one spot at the domestic box office, beating out Warner Bros. sequel Joker: Folie à Deux, is an example as to why Hollywood is failing and what they can do to fix it.

Terrifier 3 is the latest in the hyper-gory franchise and is achieving a huge amount of success with a micro-budget by catering to a niche group of horror fans. Meanwhile Joker 2 is expected to lose tens, if not hundreds, of millions for Warner Bros. thanks to the film’s massive budget and unfocused target audience. Hollywood has been having a difficult time in recent years with their exploding budgets. It’s gotten to the point where major releases have to generate hundreds of millions in order to make any money. To that end, studios and filmmakers have been desperate to appeal to a mass audience which results in, at best, a movie that people like and no one loves. With a small budget like the Terrifier series the movies doesn’t have to appeal to everyone in order to achieve success and those who do like it love it.
