Former President Donald Trump is seeking to appeal the 485 Million dollar judgment ordered as part of his civil fraud case prosecuted by New York Attorney General Letitia James. This appeal is being heard by a five judge panel of the Appellate Division of the First Judicial Department.

At the trial court level, Letitia James had alleged that Trump, and his organization, lied and inflated the value of properties and other assets in order to secure more favorable loans from banks and other investors. The interesting part.........none of the banks or investors lost money or feel they were defrauded.

The Judge, Arthur Engoron, issued his verdict after a 2½-month trial that saw testimony from 40 witnesses, including Trump. He decided the case because state law doesn’t allow for juries in this type of lawsuit and neither side asked for one.

Trump, his company and executives including sons Eric and Donald Jr. were found liable for falsifying records, conspiring to defraud insurers and issuing false financial statements. He also found former Trump Organization executives Allen Weisselberg and Jeffrey McConney liable for insurance fraud.

The judge also placed the Trump Organization under an independent monitor’s supervision for at least three years and ordered other sanctions, most of which have been paused while the appeal plays out.

Arguing for Former President Trump is D. John Sauer, who successfully argued the Presidential Immunity case in front of the Supreme Court earlier this year.

Both sides will have 15 minutes to make their arguments.
