Top of the Pops - Episode 304 (27th November 1969) - Missing Episode Reconstructed
At 7.05pm on Thursday, 27th November 1969, the BBC broadcast Episode 304 of Top of the Pops.
Most viewers probably watched this in black and white, but it was actually the first ever COLOUR episode of the show and therefore should have been archived.
However, like the majority of episodes between 1964 and 1976 it was wiped not long afterwards. Luckily an audio recording exists, recorded by a viewer on quarter-inch reel-to-reel tape, which has allowed us to add visuals to the episode using other available sources.
Of course, this episode could never be repeated in its entirety today as it was presented by Jimmy Savile and included a performance of "Two Little Boys" by Rolf Harris.
This reconstructed episode allows you to once again enjoy the hits from this week, 55 years ago. How many of these songs do you remember?
Please like and follow if you would like us to post similar reconstructions for other missing episodes.
