Ouija Board Speaks From Beyond The Veil

This is the real-life account, of reknowned author Ken Korczak, of using a Ouija board to communicate with a human being, in another time and space.

The Ouija board contacts a man living on a parallel Earth, where Minnesota is a forbidden zone. Based on a true story of two men at work in a midwestern wood, Kenneth and Brian, who find some time on their hands. Their only form of entertainment, is the spirit board. Instead of contacting the spirit world, communication was established with a New Yorker, using his own Ouija device. That New Yorker is living in an alternate timeline.

On our Earth, the state of Minnesota can be freely entered from Wisconsin, the Dakotas, and Iowa, in the U.S; Ontario and Manitoba in Canada, and by sea, from the Great Lake Superior. The land of ten thousand lakes, that the Sioux Indians called "the place where water reflects the clouds", also exists on a different Earth, but there it is a forbidden zone.

Christian denominations have warned against using Ouija boards, because this can lead to possession by spirits. "Inexperienced users" are cautioned not to dabble in it. However Kenneth is an afficionado of the spirit board, and in 2010 during a break from his woodcutting in the forests of the north he contacted Dr. 58 through the ether.

Dr. 58 lives in New York City, and the year is 1951. He is a bit of a social malcontent and by interacting with Kenneth, he is breaking the law, for to speak of Minnesota is a crime. Those who physically cross the 50 mile neutral corridor surrounding the forbidden zone, are entering illegally. Those people disappear... or in their place will return a lookalike impostor. These doppelgangers do not last long, because if they do not vanish on their own, they are hunted down and eliminated. Only rarely will the same person return, and he may come back withered and bent.

In Dr. 58's world one of the founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, was so intrigued by fantastic tales which flowed from the interior of the continent that he journeyed west, hacking through untamed wilderness. He was gone so many years that the newspapers published his obituary. He then re-appeared bearing a new system of belief, the knowledge of the Endergon. The Endergon gave him personal power over the energy of electromagnetism.

It was Franklin himself who gave the name of "Minnesota" to the forbidden zone. But the public became fearful soon of this man, who could cause lightning to strike at will. It was thought he had gone criminally insane, when he used a weapon of mass destruction, to level a small city. It was known as "electrical concussion flame". As a result knowledge of the Endergon was suppressed by the government, and Benjamin Franklin was led to the gallows.

Because the source of it is Lake Itasca in Minnesota, the Mississippi river is sometimes also a source of dread in the world of Dr. 58. In one incident, along one western bank of the 'mighty Mississipp' that was adjacent, to prairie land, there appeared overnight a string of yellow vending machines. Engraved on each machine was the same inscription, written in the language of an ancient civilization that was thought to have died out, and whose tongue was no longer spoken. The inscription read roughly as, "Against Hunger".

Mounted on top of the machine, was a collector in the shape of the mouth of a trumpet, which drew and inhaled all manner of bugs and insects. For only the turn of a dial, the machine vended a small cake to be eaten, which was folded inside an organic wrapper. The American government used military troops to approach the vending units. The unit was an attempt to poison the populace, or to make Americans into servants by use of a drug. How the vending machines were made to disappear is a government secret.

The Ouija device through which Dr. 58 communicates, is much unlike the ones known on this Earth. He calls it the Oracle, and describes it as a tiny globe of glass, filled with the oil of the seed of the sesame, a globe which is rolled upon the "Hassas Grid", marking pictographs that convey the messages he receives from Kenneth.
