💵 AUSTRALIA

'The new COVID-19 strain' named ‘XEC’ has been detected in Australia.
Scientists warn the new XEC strain could become the next dominant variant.
Officials claim the variant has higher transmission capabilities compared to previous strains.

Four years have passed since the peak of COVID-19 in 2020. Life has seemed to go back to “normal,” yet the pandemic will have forever changed the safety protocols of illnesses and viruses. Although COVID-19 has been somewhat controlled, it is still present in forms of different strains, which is why Pfizer, Moderna and Novavax have introduced a new vaccine shot to the public.

💵 CANADA

Updated COVID-19 vaccines are rolling out across the country, with priority access for people over 65 and those with underlying medical conditions, but convincing Canadians to roll up their sleeves yet again could be a challenge.

💵 SOUTH KOREA

South Korea's COVID-19 vaccination for the late 2024 to early 2025 period will start on Friday, October 11th. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said that vaccinations will be available until April 30th next year.
The agency added that people aged 75 and older, or those in high-risk facilities, can get vaccinated from the 11th, those aged 70 and older from the 15th, and people aged 65 and older from the 18th. A new JN.1 vaccine against the latest COVID-19 variant will be used. Also, people 65 and older can get both COVID-19 and flu vaccines at the same time. Those who are not eligible for free vaccines can get vaccinated at nearby medical centers for a fee.
