(2022) Prof. Richard Werner joined RT International to explain the recent appreciation of the Russian Ruble despite escalating Western sanctions. By forcing countries to pay for Russian energy in Rubles, Russia has copied the US 'petrodollar' and strengthened demand for the Ruble.
Prof. Werner has argued for many years the Ruble is undervalued especially when considering Russia's national debt. While European economies struggle, Russia has begun exporting value-added goods as well as natural resources; Werner forecasts the likely future value of the Ruble.
