Political Hit Job? Appellate Court Suggests Trump Fraud Case May Be Politically Motivated!
A New York appellate court reviewing the $355 million civil fraud verdict against former President Donald Trump is reportedly leaning toward dismissing the case and may even consider sanctioning the prosecutors, according to a legal analysis shared by a social media user.
The analysis, posted by X user "The Older Millennial," highlights the skepticism expressed by the five-judge panel, who questioned prosecutors' arguments and repeatedly asked for legal precedent on cases where no party was harmed, and the supposed victims did not report any damages.
"The Trump fraud case went before the appellate court this week, and by the end, the Democratic lawyers were practically begging not to be sanctioned," said Older Millennial. According to the post, one judge even remarked, “I don’t know if this is a case that should have been brought.”
The appellate judges reportedly suggested that the case appeared politically motivated, with one judge stating, "It seems to me that this case was brought because the individual was running for president, which could violate legal and election-related regulations.”
Older Millennial added that, rather than defending the merits of the case, prosecutors asked the court to consider that attorneys need to file cases without the threat of sanctions. "Basically, they were saying, 'Please don’t get us in trouble for bringing this baseless case,'" the user noted.
This breakdown was later shared by X owner Elon Musk. Parts of the court’s deliberations were also documented by *The Militant*, which reported that Judge David Friedman openly questioned whether Trump had committed any crime. Friedman pointed out that the supposed victim had the legal duty to conduct its own due diligence and never claimed to have been defrauded.
New York Deputy Solicitor General Judith Vale argued that Trump benefited from lower interest rates. However, Friedman was unconvinced, stating Trump would have received the same rates regardless of his net worth. Another judge, Peter Moulton, expressed concern about the "immense penalty" imposed in the case.
The appellate court's skepticism has led some to speculate that Trump may secure a legal victory soon, with potential implications for the broader narrative of judicial weaponization against him as Election Day approaches.
