Episode 200: Headmaster's Homeroom: Music Guest: Keith Fiala

Keith Fiala is a highly respected and versatile trumpet artist endorsed by Austin Winds, known for his dynamic performances and dedication to music education. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, he moved to Austin, Texas, in 1988 to study under renowned trumpet player Raymond Crisara. As a First Call trumpeter in Texas, Keith co-founded and performed with the celebrated R&B group Memphis Train Revue and toured the world with legendary trumpeter Maynard Ferguson. In 2017, he joined Grammy-winning trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, assisting in various aspects of Sandoval's career while also performing on stage. A passionate educator, Fiala taught at the Austin School of Music and Temple College, where he played lead trumpet in the Temple Jazz Orchestra for a decade. He is the author of two acclaimed books on brass playing techniques, "About Face: Let’s Play All Night" and "Secrets To Efficient Brass Playing."
