Leisure camping is great for trying out different types of bushcraft and survival gear way before you get deep into the backcountry, testing out gear you'd like to take into deep wilderness, and a great time to exercise various skills. Leisure camping is also a very fine, social way of enjoying the company of many people who just can't do the harder stuff.

I managed to collect a wonderful mess of acorns, enough to get me through the winter. I tried out a new extra-portable coffee grinder, a silicone kettle, various lamps and flashlights, a new camp stove, a new stainless-steel skillet, and a new high-capacity, highly-compact power bank. Now I know what works for me and what doesn't.
