Netanyahu says would-be successors to Hassan Nasrallah have been killed | Israel-Hezbollah conflict

Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel has killed the men who were tipped to take over the leadership of Hezbollah.

In a video message, the Israeli prime minster said: "We took out thousands of terrorists, including Nasrallah himself and Nasrallah's replacement, and the replacement of the replacement."

Mr Netanyahu did not name any individuals, but is thought to be referencing Hashem Safieddine, who was widely tipped to take over from Hassan Nasrallah. He was killed in a massive air strike on southern Beirut last month.

Mr Netanyahu also urged Lebanese to "take back your country" and return it to a path of peace and prosperity.
