"We're all guilty of something." That might be true, but so what? Signature Ent. has revealed the official UK trailer for Unit 234: The Lock Up, a "tense white-knuckle thriller" from filmmaker Andy Tennant. It's currently set for a VOD release in the UK this October, though there's no US date confirmed yet. After the shocking discovery of an unconscious man in a locked unit, the lone employee of a remote storage facility must fight to survive the night against a ruthless gang, dead set on retrieving their precious cargo – at any cost. Who is this guy locked in there anyway, what do they want with him? Starring Isabelle Fuhrman, Don Johnson, and Jack Huston, along with Christopher James Baker, Anirudh Pisharody, and James DuMont. Why does this look like another Saw spin-off movie? Definitely a direct-to-video concept despite this cast coming aboard to try and make it actually seem like a legitimate movie. Take a look below.

Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Andy Tennant's Unit 234: The Lock Up, direct from YouTube:

Take a look at the key art for the film below:
Love a good B-movie? Well, get ready to love Unit 234: The Lockup, an unwieldy but unique title that disguises a fun eighty-minute action thriller, hitting digital platforms this week and likely to unlock a cult following. Ok, sure, it’s Die Hard in a storage facility, but wait till you get a load of the names on the teamsheet. Instead of some lantern-jawed hunk of wood in the lead, it’s Isabelle Fuhrman, star of Orphan and Orphan: First Kill, dressing like an adult for a change. She’s in the red corner, and in the blue, it’s the mighty Don Johnson, cultivating his post-Knives Out career renaissance with memorable bad-guy turns in Rebel Ridge and this. And who or what are they fighting over? Let’s not even speculate on whether he’s a good guy or not, but Jack Huston turns up on a gurney sporting a missing kidney and….

OK, that beep, beep, beep sound is this review backing up to give you a better look at the goods on show. Laurie Saltair (Fuhrman) is a gal in a pickle; not only is she let down by a co-worker and forced to work front desk at her family’s storage facility in the sticks for the weekend, but it’s her birthday weekend and she’s meant to be partying with her boyfriend in Nashville. Even worse, we later find out that Laurie has a ‘fine arts and philosophy’ degree, so get out your handkerchiefs; this girl is going nowhere fast. Except things do get worse, much worse when a mysterious smooth-talking stranger (Johnson) turns up seeking access to a storage facility that he doesn’t have a key for. Laurie fobs him off, but when she opens up Unit 234, she finds Clayton (Huston) who is recovering from kidney-removal surgery….

‘You people are sick…not everyone, just me,’ says Johnson as he coughs red blood into his white handkerchief; he’s in a bad way, but what does this dying man want from Clayton? Johnson wants to bash Huston’s napper into next week with a golf club for one thing, but as Laurie evades various circling factions in and around the storage unit area, she’s running out of time to figure out how to protect poor Clayton from his pursuers as the storage wars commence…

Filmed in the Cayman Islands, and executive produced by Johnson and Colleen Camp, Unite 234 maintains admirable tension for the first hour, and then, as the action leaves the facility, throws in a few twists which just about stick the landing out over the 20 minute home straight. Fuhrman is a fresh and funky ‘dumpster-diving’ heroine, pissed-off at life and easy to empathise with, while Johnson adds another malevolent turn to his run of villainous form of late, and Huston is great value as an ambiguous character who….but you’ll need to grab a key or a crowbar and open up Unit 234: The Lockup for yourself to find out the secrets that lie within. Directed by Andy Tennant and scripted by Derek Steiner, and with a George Fenton soundtrack to boot, this is one of 2024’s most unexpectedly enjoyable films, tough, entertaining AF and a straight home run from absolutely nowhere.

Unit 234: The Lock Up is available on UK Digital Platforms 30 September. Distributed by Signature Entertainment
