The vote count is underway in India's Jammu and Kashmir region, where residents are set to elect a new local government, for the first time since the region lost its autonomy in 2019.
Preliminary results, show the region's own ‘Congress and the National Conference alliance' leading in the polls. India's ruling party, BJP, is trailing in second place.
RT's India correspondent, Runjhun Sharma, is on the ground in Jammu and Kashmir, taking a closer look at the historic race.
