Psalm 60
For the choir director: A psalm[a] of David useful for teaching, regarding the time David fought Aram-naharaim and Aram-zobah, and Joab returned and killed 12,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. To be sung to the tune “Lily of the Testimony.”

1
You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses.
You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor.
2
You have shaken our land and split it open.
Seal the cracks, for the land trembles.
3
You have been very hard on us,
making us drink wine that sent us reeling.
4
But you have raised a banner for those who fear you—
a rallying point in the face of attack. Interlude

5
Now rescue your beloved people.
Answer and save us by your power.
6
God has promised this by his holiness[b]:
“I will divide up Shechem with joy.
I will measure out the valley of Succoth.
7
Gilead is mine,
and Manasseh, too.
Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors,
and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings.
8
But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant,
and I will wipe my feet on Edom
and shout in triumph over Philistia.”

9
Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who will bring me victory over Edom?
10
Have you rejected us, O God?
Will you no longer march with our armies?
11
Oh, please help us against our enemies,
for all human help is useless.
12
With God’s help we will do mighty things,
for he will trample down our foes.

Lyrics ==================================================
[Verse 1]
You've turned away from us, oh God, defenses breaking down,
Your anger burns, but we plead now, restore us with your crown.
The earth beneath us shakes and cracks, trembling in fear,
Seal the wounds, heal the land, bring us back near.

[Pre-Chorus]
You've made us drink the bitter wine, it’s left us in a daze,
But you lift a banner high, our guide through every maze.

[Chorus]
Rescue us, your chosen ones, save us by your power,
You’re the strength we stand upon, in every darkest hour.
With you, we’ll rise and conquer all, no foe can stand our might,
Oh God, we’ll do great things, in your everlasting light.

[Verse 2]
You’ve promised by your holiness, you’ll divide the land with joy,
Shechem, Succoth in your hands, your purpose you deploy.
Gilead and Manasseh, they belong to you,
Ephraim, our warriors, and Judah, kings that rule.

[Pre-Chorus]
But Moab is your servant, Edom feels your feet,
Philistia falls before your shout, their strongholds in defeat.

[Chorus]
Rescue us, your chosen ones, save us by your power,
You’re the strength we stand upon, in every darkest hour.
With you, we’ll rise and conquer all, no foe can stand our might,
Oh God, we’ll do great things, in your everlasting light.

[Bridge]
Who will bring us to the city strong, who leads us to the fight?
Have you left us, oh our God, no longer in our sight?
Help us now against our foes, for human help is weak,
But with you, oh mighty God, victory’s what we seek.

[Chorus]
Rescue us, your chosen ones, save us by your power,
You’re the strength we stand upon, in every darkest hour.
With you, we’ll rise and conquer all, no foe can stand our might,
Oh God, we’ll do great things, in your everlasting light.
