The Hindenburg disaster occurred on May 6, 1937, when the German passenger airship Hindenburg caught fire and was destroyed while attempting to dock at Lakehurst, New Jersey. The disaster resulted in the deaths of 36 people. The exact cause of the fire remains a subject of debate, but it is widely believed that a combination of hydrogen gas, static electricity, and atmospheric conditions led to the ignition
