A few hours ago Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand, experienced a powerful earthquake.

The day prior, for the first time in 20 years, Emergency Response Teams converged in Wellington to take part in Exercise Poseidon, a 36-hour event based on the scenario of a major earthquake hitting the capital at 6am on Saturday.

The Kapiti Coast, just north of Wellington, also happens to be the focus of Managed Retreat policies, a land grab by authorities "to keep you safe".
