As the slow recovery from Hurricane Helene’s devastation got underway, Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to the affected region, and during a press conference announced that victims will be eligible to apply for $750 checks from the federal government to help with food, medicine and other necessities. Whether those $750 checks will actually get to the people in need is a separate matter, of course.
