Bad Maps #4: Croatian Colonies!

Can anyone explain to me how Croatia managed to form African colonies!? For a country, a nation dominated by the Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans, Austrians, and briefly Yugoslavian control, to stake out imperialistic claims on Africa in its history is truly a feat in itself!
