Jeremiah 49 "A Coincidence" 9/25/2024

The last judgment against the nations we looked at was Moab in chapter 48.
We begin tonight with Moab's cousin, Ammon.
If you remember, Moab and Ammon were born from an incestuous relationship between Lot and his daughters.
Lot's eldest daughter had gotten her father drunk and laid with him without his knowledge.
The following night, the younger daughter does the same.
They both become pregnant; the older daughter gives birth to Moab, while the younger daughter gives birth to Ammon. (Genesis 19)
Lot was Abraham's nephew, making Moab and Ammon cousins to Israel.
Deuteronomy reminds us that the Edomites, the people of Esau mentioned in chapter 49, are also members of Israel’s family.
The Edomites are brothers (Deuteronomy 2:4).
However, Ammon, Moab, and Edom were at war with Israel at different times throughout history…when they should have been their allies.
So, judgment has come upon them.
So, let's dig in as we continue to look at the judgments of the nations.
