It is not permitted for the Muslims to have two Imams (Khaleefahs) anywhere in the world at the same time

لَا يجوز أَن يكون على الْمُسلمين فِي وَقت وَاحِد فِي جَمِيع الدُّنْيَا امامان

پوری دنیا کے اندر، ایک وقت میں، دو امام (خلفاء) کا ہونا جائز نہیں ہے

قال ابنُ حَزْمٍ، المُتَوَفَّى 458 هـ ، فِي كِتَابِهِ (مراتب الإجماع)، “وَاتَّفَقُوا انه لَا يجوز أَن يكون على الْمُسلمين فِي وَقت وَاحِد فِي جَمِيع الدُّنْيَا امامان لَا متفقان وَلَا مفترقان وَلَا فِي مكانين وَلَا فِي مَكَان وَاحِد”.

Ibn Hazm, who died in 458 AH, stated in “Maraatib al-Ijmaa’a” that, “There is Ijma’a (Consensus) that it is not permitted for the Muslims to have two Imams (Khaleefahs), anywhere in the world, at the same time. This is whether the two Imams agreed upon this matter, or they disagreed. It is also not permitted whether the two Imams were in the same place, or in two different places.”

ابنِ حزم (سنِ وفات 458 ہجری) نے اپنی کتاب "مراتب الإجماع" میں بیان کیا ہے کہ، "نیز اس پر اجماع ہے کہ مسلمانوں پر، پوری دنیا کے اندر، ایک وقت میں، دو امام (خلفاء) کا ہونا جائز نہیں ہے، خواہ یہ باہمی اتفاق سے ہو یا اختلاف کی بناء پر۔ ایسا ہونا نہ تو دو الگ الگ جگہوں میں جائز ہے اور نہ ہی ایک جگہ میں"۔
