First X Transparency Report, Is Elon really for "Freedom of Speech"?

As part of this week's episode of "this week in social media" , we reported about what we found from the first Transparency report from X, after Elon Bought twitter!

There is has been a new “Transparency report” that shows, the report itself show “reported rule violations, content removal requests, and other enforcement actions” from Jan to June 2024

With “X reports that it suspended 5.2 million accounts in the first half of this year based on rule violations, and removed 10.7 million posts due to the same.”

From the research done for this show, it is sounds that X/twitter is “reflective of a broader reliance on automation, due to fewer staff”

“So, overall, despite Elon Musk’s claims of a more open and “free speech” aligned network, X is actually removing more content, suspending more users, and actioning more legal requests than Twitter had been. Yet, its policies now allow those promoting hate speech to remain active, while self-harm content is also seemingly not being enforced as harshly.”

“X has clearly stated that it’s now relying more on reach restrictions than account suspensions and content removals”

With both of the last stories, personally this becomes “how free”, is X understand it new “freedom of speech views”

There does seem to be a level of double stranded being created, maybe by accident or Elon “removing or shutting down views he doesn’t agree with”.
