Hurricane Blew Through
The latest Florida storm has passed through our vicinity. We were spared what some had to endure. Four days of grid power lock down. My husband and I live on a homestead and we often try to push our selves to develop what is required to live more sustainably, as we go along year to year. We survived the hurricane. Tropical storms are part and parcel of living where we reside these days. Prepping for storms. Managing life during the storms. Clean up after the storms. Seems that we are brought back down to earth through crisis. Co operation, concentration, attention to detail, accountability, responsibility, creativity. At the forefront. Life. Appreciation for the tangibly challenging ventures that are inevitably faced moment to moment. The co creation of our homestead life reality concomitant to the worm holes of social & political impositions press on. The purpose of life to love and be loved. To live a Godly life. To find ways of reason. To resume our better ways after lessons learned by remembered & relived blunders. Honest. True. Stagnating in pools of quick sand has failed. Shifting into the pots on the fire with outlyers, standbyers & hecklers has failed. Seeing what is before our very eyes & making the best of that situation step by step is a reality that teaches steady persistent patience. Life. The hollow ache of days gone by echoing in my bones. The birds are now singing happily and the sun shines another day of warm light into our midst. I see one I love nearby. We hear from people that care about us. They call or write. We share. We receive. Life. I watch others doing the same in their own ways. Also, taking the time to feed back a little online to others watching & waiting. As the deserts bloom & die & bloom & die. Water washes away down through chrome drains. Poem For The Native.
We eventually got grid power resumed on day four post storm, in our particular location. Some large branches broke off the really tall trees you can see in the background of the perimeter of the property. Fortunately, they fell in locations that avoided further damage to the existing structures. My husband is able to cut up that wood for use in our wood stove here this winter. The excess large leafy branches are dragged to a large burn pile for later on when there is a very calm day with little wind, in order to avoid risk of spreading fire.
