Prior to the landscape of My Space in 2003 and what was originally called “The Facebook” back in early 2004, people did not obtain revelation from the Lord on the world wide web. They obtained revelation from the Lord themselves during prayer time, at their local churches, from speakers at conferences, and various cassette and VHS tapes, CDs and DVDs.

Flash forward 20 years, and anyone can go on social media and essentially proclaim themselves as whatever they like to whomever they like, in a semi-protected manner. You won’t necessarily know if they have godly character or if they have fruit that remains, because you are nowhere near them and do not have access to their everyday lives.

That is the negative side, but on the contrary, social media has exposed us to a multitude of voices who we probably wouldn’t have ever heard had it not been for the online world. And some of these are so good that we can find ourselves running from one person to another to catch what everyone is putting out!

What are we reaping in our lives from listening to so many voices while trying to hear God clearly? The insatiable desire for information can result in information overload and total mental apathy.
